Meet the owners of The Libertine Bar.

Michael Smith (pictured above on the left) and Simon McDonald (above right) have been friends for almost 25 years, and have owned businesses together sine 2001 (RIP The Meridian Room). Michael is the resident plumber, electrician, general contractor and all around badass. Simon is usually holding a light so he can see.

How long you have been in business?

We have been in business for 12 years.

Why did you choose Lowest Greenville?

Lower Greenville chose us! We had been wanting this building for FOREVER, and when it finally came up for rent, the landlords approached us about taking it over. It was kismet!

What’s your favorite thing about the neighborhood?

Our favorite thing about the neighborhood is the fact that everyone here is in direct competition with each other, while at the same time constantly supporting each other and fans of one another.
